The Average BMXer is a tale about the coming of age of the first generation of BMX riders. Starting as racers in the 1970's and evolving into freestylers in the mid 1980's these individuals collectively helped to shape and create a new sport and lifestyle called BMX riding. This is the story of one of those average riders and what he did to help the cause along the way.

The Average BMXer eBook Brett Middaugh Scott Sliwinski Reviews

If you are a "Gen X" aged BMX'er or any age BMX'er for that matter, this book is like looking into a mirror. You get a sense of what it was like from the other side. This fills in the gaps in BMX history between the dawn of the sport, the heyday and through the dark years of BMX. This is an inside look at some of the most colorful characters in the sport and how they helped transform it into what it is today. If you were there like I was, the kids of today will never know what it was like to be there in a time like that. Brett Middaugh does and you should read this book. Thanks to the author for completing it and thanks to the guys that rode their bikes during the dark years of the sport for only one reason. To ride. It's because of them that the sport survived and is the worldwide internet sensation that it is today. I just wish the kids of today knew a bit more about the roots. They can with this quick & easy read about the sport we all live for.
